Edexcel is a UK based company which provides a variety of qualifications, including ‘A’ levels (GCEs), GCSEs and the BTEC suite of vocational qualifications. This organization gives more than 1.5 million certificates to students around the world every year.

Edexcel offers different types of GCSE courses. They also provide non-coursework options on most courses, with increased examination in areas. Their numerous subjects are modular and also can be taken for an examination point.

For instance, in GCSE Religious Studies, candidates can take Paper 1 at the end of year one of study (normally Year 10) and Paper 2 at the end of year two of study. Edexcel also provides a new two-tier Mathematics course that led to the formation of a well-liked Modular Course. In the year 2006, Edexcel amended its GCSE Science courses and adopt the new criteria of QCA, this saw extra emphasis on how Science works and has now incorporated more practical examination, some of which takes place in the classroom.

Edexcel started a new science course, Edexcel360 Science which holds six multiple choice exams, twelve modules and a practical, in the year 2006. Mathematics Edexcel GCSE contains Modular and Linear courses which is based on Algebra. Unit 1 is on Data Handling and is 20% of your GCSE grade while Unit 2 is on Number and is 30% of your GCSE grade and Unit 3 is a terminal exam which is 50% of your grade.

Some corrections in Time and Date of the examination:

For the January 2010, the time of the GCE 2008 Geography paper 6GE02/01 has been extended from 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes. The time of Biology papers 6BI01/01 and 6BI02/01, Chemistry papers 6CH01/01 and 6CH02/01 and Physics papers 6PH01/01 and 6PH02 has been extended from 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.
