GESS stands for Gan Eng Seng School and the official website of this School is www.gess.edu.sg. In the year 1885, the Gan Eng Seng School was established by philanthropist Gan Eng Seng. This School is one of the largest and oldest schools in the Singapore. In 1950, the Local Chinese people set the first school named “Gess” and the first to form a parent-teachers association. The school was established for the poor parents who are not able to afford school fees for their child and school provides free education to children.

GESS is a largest government school in Singapore. “GESS” was ranked as 21st school among the top 50 schools by Ministry of Education in the year 1996 in Singapore and still it has maintained its position among the top 50 schools. At present, Gan Eng Seng School is situated in Bukit Merah at Henderson Road on the western district of Singapore. GESS provides high-quality of education to its students. The total number of the students in school is more than 1300. Tan Keong Saik, Ho Yang Peng, Wee Theam Tew, Lee Cheng Yan, S.J. Chan, Wee Swee Teow, Song Ong Siang, and Dr. Lim Boon Keng were the Board of Trustees of school before it became a government school.
