On 9, March 2010 David Gurnani of Indonesia became winner of The Biggest Loser Asia 2010 in reality television series “The Biggest Loser Asia”.

On November 24, 2009, “The Biggest Loser Asia” began broadcasting on the Hallmark Channel in Asia. Malaysian television personality, Sarimah Ibrahim hosted it. The trainers are Kristy Curtis and Dave Nuku. Kristy Curtis is the Group Exercise Manager from Fitness First Australia and Dave Nuku is the Fitness First Asia’s Regional Fitness Manager.

David Gurnani is 25 years old who beats 15 other contestants. 100,000 dollars and a car were taken by him at his home. The starting weight of Gurnani was 157 kg. He is a salesman and wants to look compatible to his fiancee. Viewers are invited in the region to root for their favorite “warriors” battling the bulge by TBLA which is Asia’s first unscripted weight-loss contest.

Malaysian celebrity Sarimah Ibrahim who was host of the 14-episode contest, saw participants surrendering their mobile phones and Internet access to undergo punishing weight-loss training at a boot camp in Alor Gajah, Malacca. There were two teams of contestants Blue and red. David Nuku led blue team and Kristy Curtis led red team.

Aaron (participant) is a father of two girls, who started off at 159kg and was once an active sportsman. “I just hit 30 and I can’t afford to delay my weight loss any more. I’m excited to be given the opportunity to lose the kilos and start living life to the fullest,” he said.

A pet shop sales assistant Lai joined at 127 Kg. She wants to start a new chapter because she feels “everybody in Hong Kong is thin”. David says, “I never thought that I would say this, but it feels great to be a loser. Asia’s Biggest Loser!” After a 13-week in-camp contest, the top four went home for two months to continue losing weight on their own. As soon as David returned home, he trained from eight to ten hours a day and watched his diet. So how’s he going to spend his money, you ask?? “I’m thinking of buying a house with the money, because I’m planning to get married by the end of this year. I also want to go for a short holiday before getting back to my normal life.”

I read about this in the newspaper and it is truly amazing to see someone about to lose so much weight in such a short time. Hope people who thought that it could not be done would be able to see this so that you can in time do it too.
