Shri Ganesha Jayanti or Ganesh Jayanthi is a most famous festival especially in Maharashtra which devoted to Lord Ganesha in the Magha Month. As per traditional Marathi Calendar, it falls on the fourth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh Month. Most of people also know it with the name of “Til kund Chaturthi” or “Winter Vinayaka Chaturthi”. Today, Ganesh Jayanthi is celebrated in all over India, especially in Maharashtra.
On ceremony, images of Ganesha are made from Turmeric powder or Sindhoor powder. On the fourth day, the statue is absorbed in water. Food prepared from Til (sesame) is devoted on the day. In many division of Maharastra, the Ganesh Jayanthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesh. In the Temples, special prayers (puja’s) are detained. For many peoples, it is grand festival, they celebrate it very well. People are preparing various recipes and sweets and celebrate it very kindly.
