YSR funeral Arrangement
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy died in an air tragedy, his state funeral was on Friday, 4 September 2009. The national flag will be flown at half mast in Delhi and all state capitals for seven days; this was the state mourning, declared for the deceased leader.
For people to pay homage, YSR’s body was kept at the Lal Bahadur Stadium on Friday. For state funeral the body was taken to his native Pulivendula town in Kadapa district. To pay their last respects to YSR, popularly known as the ‘Lion of Kadapa’, several union ministers arrived in Hyderabad early Friday.
Wreaths on the body were laid by Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. YSR’s wife Vijayalakshmi, son YS Jaganmohan Reddy, daughter Sharmila and other family members were consoled by them. The leaders, who were accompanied by several central ministers, were written their condolence messages in a book also.
Andhra Pradesh Governor Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Veerappa Moily, Sushil Kumar Shinde, AK Antony, Praful Patel, Salman Khursheed, Prithvi Raj Chauhan and P Chidambaram had paid their last respects.
YSR an ‘ideal chief minister who was a role model for other states’, called by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday, Sonia Gandhi said it ‘is a huge loss for the party and the whole country’.
YSR will be missed enormously, he was a great leader.
