Amar Singh is an Indian politician from the state of Uttar Pradesh and general secretary of the Samajwadi Party (SP). He was born on 27 January 1956 in Aligarh Uttar Pradesh, in India. He had completed his graduation from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, West Bengal. He is married to Shrimati Pankaja Kumari Singh, and has two daughters. He started his political career as late as 1996 in Calcutta as a secretary of the Burrabazar District Congress Committee.

He was nominated to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) by Madhavrao Scindia. He had also become a director of The Hindustan Times, of Sahara India and several other latest companies. He is a best friend of bollywood star Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, he met Jaya Bachchan, as a co-member of the Central Board of Film Certification, then started a lasting relationship with Amitabh Bachchan. Bachchan’s children call to him “Mamaji”. Later in his life, Singh developed a relationship with leader of the opposition Mulayam Singh and he was inducted to him into the Samajvadi Party and elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Then he started politician career in making deals, tele-sermoniser, kingmaker and super-strategist, etc. He is already one of the most prominent faces of the community in the country. He charged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of kidnapping six MPs of his party and holding them in Uttar Pradesh Bhavan, New Delhi on 22 July 2008. He has detained many other positions offered in his life including, National Spokesperson of the samajwadi party, Director of the Indian Airlines, Director of the State Bank of India, National General Secretary, and the Director of National Textiles Corporation. He raises immense public support as UP topped in private sector investment in 2006-07.
